POLLUTION
Pollution has become a major issue over the years. It has caused death, disease and many health problems. It is a major concern of our world today and not much is being done to prevent it. A lot of pollution is caused by humans. Many people are realizing now the threat that pollution poses to humans. There are three main types of pollution. They are Air, Land and Water pollution.
Air pollution is a severe problem to the earth. Air pollution is the contamination and harm caused to the atmosphere by substances like smoke and fuel exhaust. Sources of air pollution includes: transportation engines such as automobiles, power and heat generation, industrial processes, and burning of solid waste. The combustion of gasoline and other fuels in automobiles, trucks and planes produce the most common pollutants, nitrogen oxide, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide and lead. Air pollution is also causing the increasing damage to the ozone layer above Antarctica. The depletion of ozone layer will increase the amount of ultraviolet radiation that reaches the earth, which will burn crops and plants and endanger the lives of living organisms on the planet.
Land pollution deals with dumps or other harmful substances. Mining, digging, and irrigation are types of land pollution also. Solid wastes are the most visible for of land pollution. The Land pollution is described as degradation of the Earth’s land surface through misuse of the soil by poor agricultural practices, mineral exploitations, plastic waste, and industrial waste dumping.
Water pollution has affected many people and animals. Water pollution is the disposal of garbage into a water stream. Oil spills are one of the worst types of water pollution. They kill aqua life and pollute more in a short amount of time than pesticides and human wastes.
Solutions to combat pollution are 70% of air pollution is due to vehicle emissions. Minimizing vehicle use is important for preventing pollution. Plant Trees and small plants that take carbon out of the environment and the polluted air that we breathe. Reuse and recycle is one of the most obvious ways to reduce pollution. Minimize garbage and environmental damages caused by manufacturing processes. You can send polluted water to water treatment plants before it is released into nearby water sources.
